Hey there, it's Jessica! I'm a 39-year-old Asian American woman, wife, and mom of three kiddos, ages 1, 4, and 7. As if that wasn't enough, I decided to make a mid-career change in the midst of all this and embark on a journey to become a nurse. Needless to say, it's been a wild ride, but I'm determined to make it work. And with the big 4-0 on the horizon, I've realized that health is wealth and I need to make it a priority. As a Filipino-Chinese woman who loves noodles and rice (and a husband who loves delicious food), I knew I needed to find a sustainable way to eat healthier. That's when I discovered the power of the keto and intermittent fasting lifestyle. I'm excited to share my journey with you, including my successes and struggles, as I work towards my goal of losing 40 lbs by 40 (15 lbs down, 25 to go!).
From juice cleanses to cabbage soup, I've done it all. But let's be real, none of them worked for me. If anything, I just ended up feeling hangry and miserable. I would get excited at first, but eventually fall off the wagon and feel like a failure. I've struggled with my weight and overall health for years. But then, I discovered keto and intermittent fasting.
So, I decided to give the Keto diet and intermittent fasting a shot. And let me tell you, it's been a wild ride. The first few days were tough. I felt like I was going through withdrawal from my carb addiction. But I stuck with it, because let's face it, I don't want to be the chubby lady at the bar when I turn 40.
Keto is like the cool, edgy cousin of other diets. It's high in fat, low in carbs, and it helps your body burn fat for fuel instead of carbs. It's like magic, I tell you. And intermittent fasting is like taking a break from food for a little while. It sounds scary at first, but it's actually not that bad. Plus, it's been linked to all sorts of health benefits.
Now, I'm not gonna lie, I've had my moments of weakness. Like that time I ate an entire pizza and a drank a liter of Dr. Pepper by myself. But I didn't let it defeat me. I just got back on track the next day.
But it's not just about the diet. I've also had to adopt a motivational mindset. I mean, who wants to wake up at 5 am to hit the gym when you could be snoozing in bed? But I've got goals, damn it. And nothing is gonna stop me from reaching them.
I started surrounding myself with positive people who supported my goals. Shoutout to my sister and cousin who have been my squad and are my accountable partners. I also started tracking my progress and celebrating my victories, no matter how small. And let me tell you, that's made all the difference.
So, if you're like me and you've tried all the diets out there, don't give up hope. Keto and intermittent fasting might just be the ticket to finally reaching your health goals. And remember, it's not just about following a plan. It's about adopting a motivational mindset and surrounding yourself with positive people who support your journey. With a little bit of dedication and a lot of fun, you can crush your goals by 40 (or whatever age you want!).
